Preventive Exercise’s Part 1: Ankle

Have Poor balance and strength, here is a small exercise that can help prevent ankle injuries.

Ankle injuries are common and can be painful and frustrating for athletes. Is important to not only rehabilitate the injured structures in the ankle but also improve strength and control to prevent another ankle injury occurring.

Standing on one leg with a soft surface below challenges your ankle stability. The muscles that assist ankle control and movement are made to work hard when the foot is placed on a soft surface.

Once standing has been mastered to the point where the athlete can stand for 15-20 seconds movements can be added. For example a simple calf raise or lunge is a suitable challenge.
